29 CFR 1910.138(b): The employer did not base selection of appropriate hand protection on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the hand protection relative to the tasks to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and potential hazards identified: (a) On 12/15/2023 and at times prior thereto, employees wearing gloves such as, but not limited to G-Tek 39-1310 are not adequately protected from punctures or cuts while handling broken glass .The G-Tek 39-1310 glove is rated on the EN 388 standard as 2142X (with the second number being the rating for cut protection) On a scale of 1-5, it is rated very low at (1) for cut resistance, and insufficient for handling broken glass.
