29 CFR 1910.132(e): The employer did not ensure that employees were not using defective or damaged personal protective equipment in the workplace. a) On or about January 18, 2024, at the Defense Commissary, Fort Buchanan, Meat Department and Produce Department - employer allowed for personnel to use broken wire-mesh metal gloves for cutting meat and did not provide these gloves in different sizes (small, medium, large) for the entire personnel that needed them exposing employees to cuts, lacerations, broken bones, and fingers loss. NOTE: Certification and documentation of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by CFR 1903.19(c) and (d), respectively.

29 CFR 1910.136(a): The employer did not ensure that each affected employee used protective footwear when working in areas where there was a danger of foot injuries due to falling or rolling objects, or objects piercing the sole, and where such employee's feet were exposed to electrical hazards: a) On or about January 18, 2024, at the Defense Commissary, Fort Buchanan, Grocery Department, Meat Department and Produce Department - employer did not ensure to provide protective footwear when employees pull and stock merchandise, manipulate cases weighing approximately 50 pounds, and perform work in areas that have potential for slips and falls, and those using stocking carts to operating powered industrial trucks, exposing employees to foot injuries including, but not limited to, crushed feet, broken bones and toes loss. NOTE: Certification and documentation of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by CFR 1903.19(c) and (d), respectively.
