29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a. On or about January 25, 2024, in the machine shop, the Phoenix band saw used to cut pipe did not have the guard adjusted to cover the unused portion of the blade, exposing employees to laceration and amputation hazards. b. On or about January 25, 2024, in the machine shop, the SH-330ER band saw used to cut pipe did not have the guard adjusted to cover the unused portion of the blade, exposing employees to a laceration and amputation hazards. c. On or about January 25, 2024, in the machine shop, the employer exposed employees to laceration and amputation hazards at the point of operation, in that the JET drill press from which the employees drill holes in metal material did not have a guard. d. On or about January 25, 2024, in the machine shop, the employer exposed employees to laceration and amputation hazards at the point of operation, in that the Blackhawke drill press from which the employees drill holes in metal material did not have a guard.
