29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer did not instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his/her environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury: a) Worksite, exterior deck: On or about February 2, 2024, an employee was operating a Makita XSS02 14.9 S/N 0712569Y 18V Cordless Circular Saw with one hand operating the circular saw and one hand holding a 2x6 inch piece of treaded lumber. The circular saw kicked back and made contact the left middle fingertip resulting in a partial amputation. The employee was not trained in using the circular saw according to procedures and manufacturer's instructions.
