Detachable side protectors (e.g. clip-on or slide-on side shields) meeting the pertinent requirements of this section are acceptable: On or about February 7, 2024, employees were exposed to eye injuries while using pneumatic nail guns to install roofing materials and the employer did not ensure eye protection was provided and used.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(11): Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels was not protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: On or about February 7, 2024, the employer failed to ensure that employees were protected from injury, in that two employees on the roof of a one-story car wash building, with a roof pitch of 6-in-12, was not utilizing a fall protection system. This condition exposed the employees to a fall hazard of approximately 10.5 feet.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed: On or about February 7, 2024, the employer failed to ensure portable extension ladder, used to access the roof of the car wash had side rails extending 3 feet above the upper landing. This condition exposed two employees to fall hazards of approximately 10.5 feet.
