One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:  a) Line 1 Slicing Roo. - On or about February 15, 2024, and times prior and employee reached into the CHL conveyor Model: TFC-22-900 Serial # 10253179204 to remove plastic from the machine.  The employer did not provide an adequate means of machine guarding in that the existing guard was easily bypassed exposing employees to the machines ingoing nip points.   Condition occurred on or about February 15, 2024.

29 CFR 1910.219(c)(4)(i) Mechanical power-transmission apparatus: Unguarded projecting shaft end(s) did not present a smooth edge and end and projected more than one half the diameter of the shaft:  a) Slicing Room - Employees were exposed to a horizontal rotating shaft end that was 1.5 inches in diameter and projected approximately 0.75 inches from the machine. The shaft end was approximately 36 inches above floor level and was not protected with a shaft end guard.   Condition occurred on/or about March 6, 2023.
