29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes: a) On or about March 15, 2024, in the kitchen area, utility stewards were required to work transfer cooking oil (350 Fahrenheit) to the used oil basin daily. The employer did not require and ensure to provide heat resistant gloves to protect affected employee's hands. The lack of proper gloves exposed the employee's hands to high temperature cooking oils.
