29 CFR 1926.200(g)(2): Traffic control signs or devices used for protection of construction workers did not conform to Part 6 of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD") Part 6 (incorporated by reference, see � 1926.6):  a)  I-70 Eastbound, East of Tabor St. Bridge in Wheat Ridge CO, 80033:  On or about March 26, 2024, the employer, Ardent Traffic Services, Inc., did not ensure employees, who were engaged in short-duration roadway work in the median adjacent to the left shoulder lane on a multi-lane freeway, were protected from struck-by impacts from eastbound, on-coming traffic.  Work vehicles (work vehicle and shadow vehicle) were parked fully obstructing the eastbound passing lane.  Temporary traffic control measures, such as advanced warning signs, lane-tapers and/or closures to direct traffic flow to the right of the eastbound passing lane, were not implemented.  This condition exposed employees to struck-by hazards.  Or in the alternative:  OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees exposed to struck-by impacts from on-coming traffic:  a) I-70 Eastbound, East of Tabor St. Bridge in Wheat Ridge CO, 80033:  On or about March 26, 2024, the employer, Ardent Traffic Services, Inc., did not ensure employees, who were engaged in short-duration roadway work in the median adjacent to the left shoulder lane on a multi-lane freeway, were protected from struck-by impacts from eastbound, on-coming traffic. Abatement Notes:  Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to:  1) Follow the Temporary Traffic Control requirements (Part 6) within the current edition of the United States Department of Transportation - Federal Highway Administration's 2009 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) for Streets and Highways.  2)  Follow the requirements within the current Colorado Department of Transportation - Traffic Safety and Engineering's "Traffic Controls for Highway Construction" (Standard Plan No. S-630-1) document.    3) Follow the requirements within the Colorado Department of Transportation's "Work Zone Safety Guidelines for Municipalities, Utilities and Contractors" (March 2013) document.
