29 CFR 1910.178(o)(1):The employer did not ensure that only stable or safely arranged loads were handled: a) Location - MEPDC - SIPS/Platform B On or about 8/22/24, the employer did not ensure that employees only handled safety arranged or stable loads in the following instances; a) An employee was observed operating a sit-down type powered industrial truck carrying two stacked pallets, and proceeded to push an additional two stacked pallets that were not on the forks of the powered industrial truck. b) An employee was observed operating a sit-down type powered industrial truck carrying a pallet, and proceeded to push an additional pallet that was not on the forks of the powered industrial truck. c) An employee was observed operating a ride-on powered pallet jack that was towing multiple GPMC containers that are not designed to be moved with the forks of a powered industrial truck. U.S. Postal Service dba Middlesex Essex Processing and Distribution Center (MEPDC) was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 29 CFR 1910.178(o)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1650032, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on July 5th, 2023, with respect to a workplace located at 76 Main Street, North Reading, MA 01889.
