29 CFR  1910.37(b)(2):  Each exit was not clearly visible and marked by a sign reading "Exit":  a) On or about April 9, 2024, at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Secondary Room #116 - an emergency exit was not clearly marked with an 'EXIT' sign or any other means, exposing employees to fire hazards.  b) On or about April 9, 2024, at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection - Door located downstairs in front of Janitorial Room #113, an emergency exit was not clearly marked with an 'EXIT' sign or any other means, exposing employees to fire hazards.  c) On or about April 9, 2024, at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, - Maintenance Office #123, an emergency exit was not clearly marked with an 'EXIT' sign, or any other means, exposing employees to fire hazards. 29 CFR  1910.37(b)(5):  Each doorway or passage along an exit access that could be mistaken for an exit was not marked "Not an Exit" or similar designation, or be identified by a sign indicating its actual use (e.g. closet):  a) On or about April 9, 2024, at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection - Lobby's Back Door, this door was not identified with a "NOT AN EXIT' sign to help avoid confusion and safely direct employees to safety areas quickly and effectively, exposing employees to fire hazards.  b) On or about April 9, 2024, at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection - Garage, large door was not identified with a "NOT AN EXIT' sign to help avoid confusion and safely direct employees to safety areas quickly and effectively, exposing employees to fire hazards. 29 CFR  1910.157(c)(1): Portable fire extinguishers were not mounted, located and identified so that they were readily accessible without subjecting the employees to injuries:  a) On or about April 9, 2024, at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection - Laboratory Room #104, Fire Extinguisher, 2.5 pounds, Serial Number L274707, was not mounted on a wall, exposing employees to fire hazards.  b) On or about April 9, 2024, at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection - Electrical and Mechanical Room #103, Fire extinguisher, 10 pounds, Model APV-10, Serial Number H22649311, obstructed by tripods, light post boxes and a case, exposing employees to fire hazards.  NOTE: Certification and documentation of abatement must be submitted for all instances of this citation item as required by CFR 1903.19(c) and (d), respectively.

29 CFR  1910.303(g)(1):  Sufficient access and working space was not provided and maintained about all electric equipment (operating at 600 volts, nominal, or less to ground) to permit ready and safe operation and maintenance of such equipment:  a) On April 9, 2024, at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection - Electrical and Mechanical Room #103, a safety switch box, brand General Electric, 30-AMP, 240-VAC, was obstructed by plastic cases and a cooler that could delay access in case of an emergency, also exposing employees to electrical hazards.
