29 CFR  1926.501(b)(1):"Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.  a) On or about 04/18/2024, during the erection of a pole barn located at 4150 Buffalo Road, in Rochester, New York, the employer did not enforce the use of fall protection when employees were constructing the building framework. Employees were allowed to work along unprotected sides, up to 14 feet above lower levels, without fall protection and were exposed to fall hazards.  NO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED  The Salatino Construction Company was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501(b)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1661183, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on 07/24/2023 , with respect to a workplace located at 4150 Buffalo Road, Rochester, New York.
