Employees were exposed to an approximately 25-foot fall hazard while installing vinyl siding.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): When portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladder was used to gain access; or, when such an extension was not possible because of the ladder's length, then the ladder was not secured at its top to a rigid support that would not deflect, and a grasping device, such as a grabrail, was not provided to assist employees in mounting and dismounting the ladder: a) Jobsite, 285 River Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15234: On or about May 7, 2024, during roofing/siding activities, the employer did not ensure that the ladder used to get up/down to and from the roof was properly set up in that it was only extended about 1 foot above the roof line, exposing employees to fall hazards of up to approximately 25 feet.
