29 CFR 1910.176(a):Use of mechanical equipment. Where mechanical handling equipment is used, sufficient safe clearances shall be allowed for aisles, at loading docks, through doorways and wherever turns or passage must be made. Aisles and passageways shall be kept clear and in good repair, with no obstruction across or in aisles that could create a hazard. Permanent aisles and passageways shall be appropriately marked. a) On or about 5/07/2024 in the yard area, the employer did not ensure that the outside areas utilized by the forklifts such as the (Hangcha forklift (model # 5PYD25-XW71B1)) to load and unload semi-trucks, maintained a sufficient safe clearance around the trailers in that truck drivers were exposed to struck-by hazards by forklift operators operating forklifts around the trailers while truck drivers were unstrapping the tarping systems when the forklift operators views were obstructed.
