29 CFR 1926.651(j)(2):Protection was not provided by placing and keeping excavated or other materials or equipment at least 2 feet (.61m) from the edge of excavations, or by the use of retaining devices that were sufficient to prevent materials or equipment from falling or rolling into excavations, or by a combination of both if necessary. a) On or about May 22, 2024, at the jobsite, employees were exposed to cave in and entrapment hazards while installing electrical conduit in a type C soil trench measuring 57' long and 4' wide and 5.5' deep on the South end and 7' deep on the North end, in that, spoil piles were less than 2 feet from the edge of the excavation.
