29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1):Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: (a) JAL Chemical Co, Inc., Mitchell Ford 801 Bloomfield Ave, Windsor, CT 06095; On or about May 29, 2024, and at times prior, employees were not effectively trained for the hazards of working with 9H Ceramic Coating, which may cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure. Employees were able to identify that they should wear nitrile gloves and eye protection, but were not able to identify proper spill cleanup, potential health effects, nor first-aid measures for accidental exposure to the chemical.

29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(1): Employers did not have a safety data sheet in the workplace for each hazardous chemical which they use: (a) JAL Chemical Co, Inc., Mitchell Ford 801 Bloomfield Ave, Windsor, CT 06095; On or about May 29, 2024, and at times prior, employees were not provided access to Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for all hazardous chemicals found at the worksite, to include, but not limited to 9H Ceramic Coating, which may cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure, supplied by Hi Tech Industries. Employees use the ceramic coating on the exterior of vehicles weekly, and were not provided the SDS before use nor was the SDS available at the worksite.
