Employees were required to use tight-fitting half face respirators for production tasks including but not limited to when dry cutting stone and using angle grinders on slabs. Stone cutting and grinding may result in exposure to respirable crystalline silica, a carcinogen whose health effects also include silicosis, and Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
