OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that was causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that an employee was exposed to amputation hazards associated with working with a woodchipper. Location: 115 Crescent Circle Cheshire, CT 06410 On or about July 30, 2024, the employer did not ensure that an employee who was required to use a Vermeer BC-1500 series woodchipper operated the woodchipper in accordance with it's operator's manual and ANSI Z133-2017 Standard 8.7.5 which states that all throwlines and climbing and rigging lines are kept clear of the chipping area. An employee sustained a partial thumb amputation after being being caught in a rigging line.
