29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(3)(iii): The measures employees can take to protect themselves from these hazards, including specific procedures the employer has implemented to protect employees from exposure to hazardous chemicals, such as appropriate work practices, emergency procedures, and personal protective equipment to be used. a. On June 10, 2024, at the establishment located at 1997 American Blvd, De Pere, Wisconsin; the employer did not develop appropriate work practices to protect employees from hazardous chemicals while offloading bulk cargo tanker trailers into bulk storage tanks. The employees were not trained how to effectively measure product amounts resulting in an overfill that sprayed Mineral Seal Oil on an employee. b. On July 23, 2024, at the establishment located at 1997 American Blvd, De Pere, Wisconsin; the employer did not develop appropriate work practices to protect employees from hazardous chemicals while washing out the blending tanks. Multiple employees attempted to wash out different blending tanks at the same time, resulting in incompatible chemicals reacting, exposing employees to chemical vapors.
