29 CFR 1926.600(a)(6)(i):29 CFR 1926.600(a)(6)(i): For lines rated 50kV or below, a minimum of 10 feet was not maintained between the energized line and the equipment. At a worksite located near GPS Coordinates 36.9180412, -92.2488098, Vanzant, MO; employees were exposed to electric shock, electrocution, and fire hazards when replacing a transformer. Employees working on a live 7,200-volt line with a derrick boom were not adequately protected from a minimum distance of 10 feet from the boom's claw to the energized line. On 7-29-2024, an operator of the derrick made contact with the derrick's claw with the energized line, causing electricity to travel through the vehicle and shock an employee touching the vehicle, resulting in an in-patient hospitalization.

Employees working on a live 7,200-volt line with a derrick boom did not designate a specific employee to observe the clearance of equipment and give a timely warning for the operation.
