29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. a. On or about July 26, 2024, on the Blow Molder Line 3, guarding was not provided to prevent employees from reaching into moving parts at the side of the cooling bed when clearing bottles stuck between the cooling bed and blow mold machine. An employee was attempting to clear bottle off the cooling bed that were stuck when the swing arm activated, and the employee's arm was injured. b. On or about August 2, 2024, on the Blow Molder line 2, at the discharge end of the line, guarding was not in place to prevent employees from reaching into the bars that rotated over the end of the cooling bed.
