29 CFR 1917.12: The employer did not eliminate, to the extent possible, conditions causing slippery working and walking surfaces in work areas used by employees. On or about August 7, 2024, an employee was conducting grain loading tasks at a marine terminal/barge deck. The employee slipped on debris, fell, and was injured. The employer did not address the slippery working and walking conditions in employee work areas to ensure a safer environment, thus causing the employee to slip and fall.

29 CFR 1918.91(b): The employer did not eliminate conditions causing slippery walking and working surfaces in immediate areas used by employees. On or about August 7, 2024, employees were performing grain loading tasks at a marine terminal. Loading a grain barge allowed kernels of corn to litter the decks. The employer failed to address the slippery working and walking conditions in the employee work areas.
