Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being caught in the rotating operation of the Monarch Machine Tool Co lathe:   a) 2374 State Road Bensalem, PA 19020- On or about August 15, 2024, employee(s) were permitted to wear gloves when operating a Monarch manual lathe, exposing the employee(s) to caught in hazards due to the gloved hand being pulled into the point of operation.   Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means of abatement include, but are not limited to:   The employer should implement a process-based approach in accordance with ANSI B11.6 to abate the cited hazard. As part of that process, multiple abatement measures from the menu below may be necessary to materially reduce the hazard.   1. Revise the workplace hazard assessment to indicate glove use is not permitted while operating a lathe. 2. Provide training to employees on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use while operating a lathe. 3. Establish a written Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for lathe operations to include proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage.  4. Train employees on the established Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for lathe operations.
