One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. a). On or about August 29, 2024, the employer did not ensure guarding was provided, in the form of abrasive blasting cabinet gloves, on the IST Abrasive Blasing Machine, to protect the operator and other employes in the machine area from hazards created by the flying blast medica (chips) when performing abrasive blasting with one of the gloves removed to accommodate parts that are longer than the cabinet. b). On or about August 29, 2024, the employer did not ensure guarding was provided, in the form of abrasive blasting cabinet gloves, on the Pulsar Abrasive Blasing Machine, to protect the operator and other employes in the machine area from hazards created by the flying blast medica (chips) when performing abrasive blasting with the gloves removed to accommodate parts that are longer than the cabinet.
