29 CFR 1926.501(b)(14): Each employee working on, at, above, or near wall openings (including those with chutes attached), where the outside bottom edge of the wall opening was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels and the inside bottom edge of the wall opening is less than 39 inches (1.0 M) above the walking/working surface, is not protected from falling by the use of a guardrail system, a safety net system, or a personal fall arrest system. a. At 7311 Baymeadows way, Jacksonville, FL, on or about September 5, 2024, employees doing carpentry work on a ladder near a window opening located on the third floor of a residential building were not protected from falling through the window opening by the use of personal fall arrest system, covers, or guardrails systems erected around the opening equivalent to the working level of the employee, exposing the employee to a 20 foot fall hazard.
