29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652(c): a) On or about September 12, 2024, employees were exposed to cave-in hazards while entering and working in the unprotected north end of a trench having a depth of approximately 7 feet. b) On or about September 12, 2024, employees were exposed to cave-in hazards while working in the unprotected south end of a trench having a depth of approximately 7 feet. Holiday Sewer & Water Construction, Inc., was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1680022, citation 1, item 1, and was affirmed as a final order on October 4, 2023, with respect to a worksite located at Rohlwing and Cunningham, Palatine, Illinois. Holiday Sewer & Water Construction, Inc., was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1643998, citation 1, item 1, and was affirmed as a final order on March 23, 2023, with respect to a worksite located at 3195 Lincoln Prairie Blvd., Aurora, Illinois. No abatement certification or documentation required for this violation.
