29 CFR  1910.304(b)(4)(ii)(B):Where connected to a branch circuit supplying two or more receptacles or outlets, a receptacle may not supply a total cord- and plug-connected load in excess of the maximum specified in Table S-4:  A)   On or about October 7th, in the community break room, employees were exposed to potential fire hazards from a 15 amp electrical power strip that was connected to three appliances that drew a total of 18.6 amps.  Repeated use of appliances drawing more current than the electrical power strip is rated for runs the risk of damage to the strips components, and eventual failure and resulting fire.
