29 CFR 1926.1052(c)(1)(i):Stairways having four or more risers or rising more than 30 inches (76 cm), whichever is less, were not equipped with at least one handrail: a). On or about October 9, 2024, and at times prior, employees were exposed to fall hazards more than 5.5 feet. The employer failed to ensure that stairs leading to the opening of an open excavation of 5.5 feet deep had handrails to prevent a fall. The stairs had at least eight risers without handrails, including a landing between two perpendicular and connected flights of stairs.
