29 CFR 1910.138(b): The employer did not base selection of appropriate hand protection on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the hand protection relative to the tasks to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and potential hazards identified:  a) Maintenance Shop - On or about October 2024, an employee was sanding a steel rod that was attached to a moving Le Blond Lathe machine. The employee was wearing gloves and when the gloves got caught and wrapped the employees right middle, ring and pinky fingers around the steel rod causing compound fractures. The employer did not perform a PPE Hazard Assessment for the job being conducted which would have addressed the use or need for appropriate hand protection. This caused the employee to be exposed to hazards associated with rotating parts.
