29 CFR 1910.179(j)(2):The following items were not be inspected for defects at intervals as defined in paragraph (j)(1)(ii) of this section or as specifically indicated, including observation during operation for any defects which might appear between regular inspections: Employees were exposed to struck by hazards. There were no frequent inspections of cranes on a daily to monthly interval for hooks with deformation or cracks, hoist chains, functional operating mechanisms for excessive wear of components, and rope reeving. This was found on, but not limited to Yale Brand 2 ton overhead crane and the 2 ton Ingersoll Rand brand overhead crane in the maintenance bay.

29 CFR 1910.179(j)(3): Complete inspections of the crane was not being performed at intervals as generally defined in paragraph (j)(1)(ii)(b) of this section: Employees were exposed to struck by hazards. There were no periodic inspections of cranes from on to twelve-month interval for hooks with deformation or cracks, hoist chains, functional operating mechanisms for excessive wear of components, and rope reeving. This was found on but not limited to Yale Brand 2-ton overhead crane and the 2-ton Ingersoll Rand brand overhead crane in the maintenance bay.
