29 CFR 1910.132(a): Application. Protective equipment, including personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities, protective clothing, respiratory devices, and protective shields and barriers, shall be provided, used, and maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition wherever it is necessary by reason of hazards of processes or environment, chemical hazards, radiological hazards, or mechanical irritants encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation or physical contact. On or about October 29, 2024, an employee dumping SF Grinding Vehicle (hot varnish), from a cooling tank into a black tub using a flex hose, was exposed to burn hazards. The employer failed to provide protective equipment, such as but not limited, to, heat resistant clothing, to employees when exposed to burn hazards. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).

Employers shall select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. On or about October 29, 2024, an employee dumping SF Grinding Vehicle (hot varnish), from a cooling tank into a black tub using a flex hose, was exposed to burn hazards. The employer failed to provide appropriate hand protection equipment, when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. 29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1):Employers shall develop, implement, and maintain at each workplace, a written hazard communication program which at least describes how the criteria specified in paragraphs (f), (g), and (h) of this section for labels and other forms of warning, safety data sheets, and employee information and training will be met, and which also includes the following: 1) Requirement for labeling and other forms of warning; 2) Safety data sheet availability; 3) Employee information and training; 4) A list of hazardous chemicals known to be present in the workplace; 5) Methods to inform employees of the hazards on non-routine tasks; On or about November 6, 2024, employees providing maintenance to the powered industrial vehicles were exposed to respiratory and chemical hazards, such as but not limited to propane gas. The employer did not develop, implement, and maintain at each workplace, a written hazard communication program which at least describes how the criteria specified in paragraphs (f), (g), and (h) of this section for labels and other forms of warning, safety data sheets, and employee information and training will be met. Abatement certification is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
