29 CFR 1910.303(b)(2): Listed or labeled equipment was not installed and used in accordance with any instructions included in the listing and labeling.: On December 4, 2024 and at times prior thereto, the employer did not ensure that listed and labeled equipment was used in accordance with instructions included in the listing and labeling. Three appliances were plugged into a relocatable power tap (RPT) instead of into a grounded wall outlet: 1). A white Avanti microwave, model M01450TW, Serial No. A339131450817C0100159 2). A black keurig coffee machine 3). A Nespresso machine Relocatable power taps (RPTs), also known as power strips, are not designed for use with higher amperage equipment such as coffee makers, refrigerators, or microwaves. Use of electrical equipment in a manner inconsistent with the listing and labeling can cause overheating or other electrical problems. This condition potentially exposed employees to electrical hazards.
