29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. a) On and before 02/06/2025, the employer did not ensure that employees working on the Sturtz BL-Frame welder (Model SMC-VSM 30/26-PDS Serial# 7695) on the back line (line 2) were not bypassing the light curtains in order to hold in place the top vinyl with one hand for a window frame while pressing an unguarded foot pedal located within the light curtain to cause the four welding heads on the frame welder to clamp on the vinyl piece exposing employees to pinch point hazards.
