29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. (a) On the Hobbs Winder Machine #1 - On or about February 17, 2025, and at times prior to, the employer exposed employees to caught in and crushing hazards, in that, the winder machine was not provided with adequate guarding, where employees are required to perform cutting of the product with their hands in the danger zone of a rotating shaft with an in-running nip point. (b) On the Hobbs Winder Machine #4 - On or about February 17, 2025, and at times prior to, the employer exposed employees to caught in and crushing hazards, in that, the winder machine was not provided with adequate guarding, where employees are required to perform cutting of the product with their hands in the danger zone of a rotating shaft with an in-running nip point. (c) On the Hobbs Winder Machine #5 - On or about February 17, 2025, and at times prior to, the employer exposed employees to caught in and crushing hazards, in that, the winder machine was not provided with adequate guarding, where employees are required to perform cutting of the product with their hands in the danger zone of a rotating shaft with an in-running nip point. (d) On the Hobbs Winder Machine #6 - On or about February 17, 2025, and at times prior to, the employer exposed employees to caught in and crushing hazards, in that, the winder machine was not provided with adequate guarding, where employees are required to perform cutting of the product with their hands in the danger zone of a rotating shaft with an in-running nip point.
