29 CFR 1910.134(h)(2)(i): Respirators were not stored to protect them from damage, contamination, dust, sunlight, extreme temperatures, excessive moisture, and damaging chemicals or were not packed or stored to prevent deformation of the facepiece and exhalation valves.  At the workplace located at  817 Massachusetts Street in Lawrence Kansas, employees were exposed to respiratory hazards. The employer did not ensure that respirators used by employees were stored properly to protect from dust and /or chemical contamination. Respirators were observed placed in a bowl exposed to the elements in a room where they handle investment casting powder and other chemicals.

29 CFR  1910.134(c)(2)(ii):The employer did not establish and implement those elements of a written program necessary to ensure that any employee using a respirator voluntarily was medically able to use that respirator, and that the respirator was cleaned, stored, and maintained so that its use does not present a health hazard to the user:  On or about 2/26/25 at the workplace located at  817 Massachusetts Street in Lawrence Kansas, employees were exposed to respiratory hazards in that the employer did not ensure that employees using respirators were medically able to use them and that it did not present a hazard to the employees.

Employees engaged in jewelry making and repair activities were exposed to dermal, ingestion, and inhalation hazards from exposure to hazardous chemicals without being provided with information and training on how to recognize, avoid and/or eliminate the hazards associated with the following chemicals: 1. #3 watch rinsing solution - category 3 flammable hazard 2. #566 ultrasonic non-ammoniated watch cleaning solution category 3 flammable liquid and category 2 health hazard 3. Liquified petroleum gas as well as compressed oxygen both rated as category 1 flammable gas
