29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where (a) portable ladder(s) was/were used for access to an upper level landing surface and the ladder's length did not allow the ladder side rails to extend at least 3 feet (0.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed, the ladder was not secured at its top to a rigid support that will not deflect, and/or a grasping device was not provided to assist employees in mounting and dismounting the ladder.  a. On or about March 6, 2025, the portable ladders used to access the roof did not extend at least three (3') feet above the upper landing surface nor was it secured at the top, thereby exposing employees to the hazards associated with falls.

On or about March 6, 2025, at the above addressed jobsite, an employee using a pneumatic nail gun was not wearing safety glasses, thereby exposing the employee to hazards associated with eye injuries.  JKL Exteriors Corp. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 1926.102(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1713704, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on March 12, 2024, with respect to a workplace located at 219 Maple St. Hinsdale, Illinois 60521.
