29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3):Exit routes were not free and/or unobstructed. No materials or equipment may be placed, either permanently or temporarily, within the exit route. The exit access must not go through a room that can be locked, such as a bathroom, to reach an exit or exit discharge, nor may it lead into a dead-end corridor. Stairs or a ramp were not provided where the exit route was not substantially level. a.) Quality Swiss Screw/849 Fourth Avenue, Elizabeth, NJ, 07202/machine shop/Exit door/route 1. The exit route for the rear emergency exit door was not kept clear of material or equipment such as machinery & miscellaneous items. 2. The employer failed to provide stairs or a ramp to the rear emergency exit of the building, which was not substantially level, thereby exposing employees to smoke inhalation hazards. Condition noted on or about 3/11/2025.

The machines did not have any guarding to prevent employees from accessing the point of operation. This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards. Condition observed on or about 03/11/2025.
