29 CFR 1926.451(c)(1): Guys, ties or braces were not installed at the closest horizontal member for scaffolds with a height to base width (including outrigger supports, if used) ratio of more than four to one (4:1) and repeated vertically at locations of horizontal members every 20 feet or less thereafter for scaffolds 3 feet wide or less, and every 26 feet or less thereafter for scaffolds greater than 3 feet wide: a) On March 25, 2025, employees were observed performing masonry work from a tubular welded frame scaffold that was six frames high, where the frames did not have the first tie, guy or brace installed at the closest scaffold horizontal member to the 4:1 height to base width ratio or at 20 feet. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
