29 CFR 1926.850(e): The employer did not determine if any type of hazardous chemicals, gases, explosives, flammable materials, or similarly dangerous substances were used in any pipes, tanks, or other equipment on the property. When the presence of any such substances was apparent or suspected, the employer did not perform testing and purging to eliminate the hazard before demolition was started. On or about March 14, 2025 and at times thereafter, the employer, Gentry Demolition LLC, at the jobsite located at 10444 Waterville Street in Whitehouse, Ohio, failed to evaluate if hazardous chemicals were used on the property and that testing and purging was performed to eliminate chemicals such as, but not limited to hydrogen fluoride, n-butyl alcohol, hydraulic oil, and asbestos from equipment and piping prior to performing demolition operations of the industrial equipment at the jobsite.
