Employees engaged in residential roofing activities located at 6906 Cottonwood Street, Shawnee, Kansas, were walking and working on a 6:12 pitch roof, were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 12 feet from the eave of the residence to the ground below in that fall protection was not utilized.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to upper landing surfaces, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladders were used to gain access: Employees were exposed to fall hazards. Employees engaged in residential roofing activities located at 6906 Cottonwood Street, Shawnee, Kansas, were using an extension ladder to gain access to a 6:12 pitch roof. The ladder did not extend 3 feet above the roofing surface and exposed employees to fall hazards of approximately 12 feet from the eave of the residence to the ground below.
