Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure. On or about April 16, 2025, at 5150 W Schroth Lane in Appleton, Wisconsin, employees were exposed to a fall hazard working on a roof 9.5 feet above surface level without using required fall protection equipment.

On or about April 16, 2025, at a worksite located at 5150 W Schroth Lane, Appleton, Wisconsin, an employee was exposed to a fall hazard of 9.5 feet while installing roofing materials when the employer did not ensure that the personal fall arrest system being used was capable of stopping the employee from hitting the lower surface.
