The employee was not provided a medical evaluation prior to being required to wear the respirator.

29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A): The employer permitted respirators with tight-fitting facepieces to be worn by employees who have facial hair that comes between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face: (a) On and before 5/1/2025, in the spraying area, for the welders/fabricators wearing a Weidahh full-face respirator with organic vapor/activated carbon filter cartridges and a half-face respirator while spray painting structural steel and beams with MACROPOXY� 646 PW Potable Water Epoxy Hardener (Part B) Hardener OAP containing chemicals, such as, but not limited to, Xylene and Ethyl benzene were not clean-shaven. The employer did not implement procedure to prevent facial hair on respirator users.
