The exposure concentration was determined by the employee's carboxyhemoglobin (% COHb) medical blood gas measurement following the employee's exposure. This level is 2.56 times the permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 50 ppm. This exposure occurred over a 240-minute exposure period.  (b) GWA Parking Garage, 1957 E Street NW, Washington, DC 20006 - On or about August 12, 2025, a pressure washer was exposed to 390.9 parts per million (ppm) of carbon monoxide (SAE = 0.792), as an 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) from cleaning an enclosed parking garage at night using commercial gas-powered pressure washers.  The exposure concentration was determined by the employee's carboxyhemoglobin (% COHb) medical blood gas measurement following the employee's exposure. This level is 7.82 times the permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 50 ppm. This exposure occurred over a 360-minute exposure period.  In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet), in addition, documentation demonstrating the abatement is complete must be included with your certification.
