29 CFR  1926.651(b)(1): The estimated location of utility installations, such as sewer, telephone, fuel, electric, water lines, or any other underground installations that reasonably may be expected to be encountered during excavation work, shall be determined prior to opening an excavation.  Location: a) Worksite; 1 Wapalanne Rd., Sandyston, NJ 07826; East side hill, in front of northern toilet house  a) On or about 6/3/2025, an employee performed excavation activities at the worksite and struck an underground utility installation (propane gas fuel line) that was approximately 2 feet below grade. The excavation included an area that was approximately 5 feet wide by 6 feet long and a connected area that was approximately 3 feet wide by 20 feet long. The employer did not make a determination to estimate the location of the utility installations prior to opening the excavation.
