29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a)Dakota Steel & Trim, LLC at 29007 477th Avenue, Canton, SD 57013: On or about and at times prior to July 2, 2025, the employer did not ensure guarding was in place on the Thalman Maschinentyp: TD 150-6, 4 M, Fabr. Nr. 15040, in that the light curtain, Leuze Electronic Part No 549/02, Mirror Colum UMC-1002, was not operative while the machine was in operation, located in the trim department. This condition exposed employees to caught-in and nip point hazards hazards.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii):Point(s) of operation of machinery were not guarded to prevent employee(s) from having any part of their body in the danger zone(s) during operating cycle(s): (a)Dakota Steel & Trim, LLC. at 29007 477th Avenue, Canton, SD 57013: On or about and at times prior to July 2, 2025, the employer did not ensure guarding was in place on the Forstner Coil Processing machine, Type: KA-6 1250 70-100-9-FE-HOV, Serial No: 103502 KA-6 within the trim department. This condition exposed employees to amputation and pinch point hazards. (b)Dakota Steel & Trim, LLC at 29007 477th Avenue, Canton, SD 57013: On or about and at times prior to July 2, 2025, the employer did not ensure guarding was in place on the Thalman Maschinentyp: TD 150-6, 4 M, Fabr.
