29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc.: On June 9, 2025, at a facility located at 1275 Industrial Drive in Shawano, Wisconsin; the employer did not provide one or more methods of machine guarding to protect employees from: a) The material hold downs of the Ritter Horizontal Boring Machine (Model R-800) in the Machining Department. Employees' hands and fingers were exposed to caught-between hazards between the material being bored and the machine's hold down mechanism. b) The infeed and outfeed conveyors of the Rip-Saw on the Lamination Line. Employees' fingers were exposed to ingoing nip points where the infeed and outfeed conveyors ran over their respective tail pullies.
