Employees used wrist-length Ammex nitrile medical examination gloves, which are not designed or approved for protection against corrosive acid hazards, while handling and moving lead-acid batteries covered in electrolyte and filling these batteries with water. This exposed employees' hands and forearms to corrosive acid hazards capable of causing chemical burns .

29 CFR  1910.1001(j)(7)(iv): Employee information and training. The employer shall also provide, at no cost to employees who perform housekeeping operations in an area which contains ACM or PACM, an asbestos awareness training course, which shall at a minimum contain the following elements: health effects of asbestos, locations of ACM and PACM in the building/facility, recognition of ACM and PACM damage and deterioration, requirements in this standard relating to housekeeping, and proper response to fiber release episodes, to all employees who perform housekeeping work in areas where ACM and/or PACM is present. Each such employee shall be so trained at least once a year.  a) On or about July 25, 2025 in the battery room, cleaning supplies room, building A 1st and 2nd floor, the employer did provide awareness training to employees performing housekeeping operations, such as manually sweeting, using rotating brush sweepers, and rotating polishing discs on flooring that contained ACM/PACM, which included recognition of damage and deterioration, and proper response to fiber release episodes.
