29 CFR 1926.100(a): Employees working in areas where there was a possible danger of head injury from impact, or falling or flying objects, or from electrical shock and burns, were not protected by protective helmets: (a) New Timber Frame Gymnasium and Workshop Building - A crew of employees worked framing a new timber frame gymnasium and workshop building. A mobile hydraulic crane hoisted purlins up to employees, who worked from the building's roof trusses and other framing members to install the purlins onto the roof trusses. Neither the employees installing the purlins nor the employees working at grade level below wore hard hats, on or about August 7, 2025. No abatement certification or documentation required.

1926.503(c)(3) When the employer has reason to believe that any affected employee who has already been trained does not have the understanding and skill required by paragraph (a) of this section, the employer shall retrain each such employee. (a) New Timber Frame Gymnasium and Workshop Building - While installing purlins on the roof trusses on the new timber frame gymnasium and workshop building, employees walked on and worked from timber frame roof trusses and other framing members, at least 18 feet above grade, without using guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems for fall protection, on or about August 7, 2025. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
