29 CFR 1926.20(b)(2): The employer did not initiate and maintain programs which provided for frequent and regular inspections of the job site, materials and equipment to be made by a competent person(s); a. On or about August 4, 2025 at 1020 Emerald Creek Drive, Valrico, Florida, the employer did not ensure that a competent person conducted an inspection of the job site to identify heat related hazards and implement means to prevent heat-related illnesses. Employees were exposed to the hazard of high heat from the sun during the performance of their job duties, including roof repairs (shingles and decking). The calculated Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) ranged from 25?- 31? (77? to 87?) and a calculated heat index of 28?-39? (83 ? to 103?) while working outdoors for approximately 4 hours performing moderate to heavy manual labor and wearing long sleeve shirts and long pants. Such exposures are likely to lead to the development of serious heat-related illnesses such as, but not limited to, heat cramps, heat stress, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. b. On or about August 4, 2025 at 1020 Emerald Creek Drive, Valrico Florida 33596, the employer did not ensure that frequent and regular inspections were conducted by a competent person to identify fall hazards.
