29 CFR 1926.651(k)(1): Daily inspections of excavations, the adjacent areas, and protective systems were not made by a competent person for evidence of a situation that could result in possible cave-ins, indications of failure of protective systems, hazardous atmospheres, or other hazardous conditions: On or about August 25, 2025, employees were exposed to cave-in hazards of 5.5 feet without cave-in protection, and the employer did not have a competent person conduct daily inspections of the excavation and protective systems for potential employee safety hazards, on a residential construction site in Dunlap, Illinois. WALTERS WATERWORKS LLC DBA MR. ROOTER OF PEORIA WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD 1926.651(k)(1), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 1798665, CITATION 1, ITEM NUMBER 1b AND WAS AFFIRMED AS FINAL ORDER ON 03/03/2025, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT 1417 N 5TH STREET, PEKIN, IL 61554.
