29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances, severe cuts or lacerations, severe abrasions, punctures, chemical burns, thermal burns, and harmful temperature extremes. U.S. Postal Service Los Angeles Processing & Distribution Center: On 8/4/25 and at times prior thereto, the employer did not select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection for employees' conducting manual mail handling tasks, such as unloading wiretainers. This condition exposed employees to laceration, abrasion, and amputation hazards.

29 CFR 1904.39(a)(2): The employer did not report an in-patient hospitalization, amputation, or loss of an eye as a result of a work-related incident to OSHA within twenty-four (24) hours. The U.S. Postal Service did not report a fingertip amputation as a result of a work-related incident to OSHA within twenty-four hours of learning of the amputation. This materially impaired the understandability of injuries at the workplace. The U.S. Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1696518, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on 11/11/24, with respect to a workplace located at 4948 Mountain Vista St., Las Vegas, NV 89121.
